Overview
The Matador Arms Espada is a 9mm bullpup pistol-caliber carbine built on the company's MAT-9 upper, in which the entire recoil and bolt assembly is contained in the upper receiver rather than a buffer tube. It uses a roller-delayed blowback action with a hardened stainless roller bearing keeping the bolt locked, feeds from Colt-pattern stick magazines, and combines a monolithic aluminum upper with a continuous top rail, an Elftmann adjustable trigger, ambidextrous controls and tool-free EZTS takedown. The short-barreled configuration is an NFA SBR.

Sources describe the operating system as roller-delayed blowback (not simple blowback) and the magazine pattern as Colt/MAT-9-style 9mm sticks. Bullpup lower is roughly 13 inches long.
