Notes

The ALIAS STAR barrel lengths range from 18.5 to 24 inches depending on caliber and intended use. The .308 Winchester version uses a 1:11 twist rate, while the 6.5mm calibers use 1:8 twist. The buttstock is fully adjustable to accommodate different body types and shooting positions. The rifle can be disassembled to a maximum component length of 29 inches (738mm) for discrete transport, with an intermediate configuration of 38 inches with butt attached, or 44 inches fully assembled. The threaded barrel accepts standard suppressors with a thread cap provided for unsuppressed use. McMillan's ALIAS family includes the CS5 (Concealable Subsonic/Supersonic Suppressed Sniper System) as a dedicated suppressed variant.

Background

The ALIAS STAR represents McMillan's answer to the growing demand for a modular, suppressor-ready sniper platform that could serve as a military unit's standard-issue precision rifle. The name 'STAR' stands for Standard Tactical Application Rifle, reflecting its role as a versatile workhorse rather than a specialized niche weapon.
