Overview

The Mendoza AZTK/MX1K is a series of semi-automatic, double-action pistols produced by the Mexican firearms maker Productos Mendoza under the PM-1 designation. The line comprises two models: the AZTK ("Azteca"), chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum, and the MXIK ("Mexica", also styled MX1K), chambered in .380 ACP with a 19+1 round magazine. Marketed as an affordable domestically produced sidearm, it is valued more for functional reliability than for refined finish.

Background

Productos Mendoza named its two PM-1 pistols after Mexico's Mesoamerican heritage: the 9mm AZTK evokes the Aztec (Azteca) empire, while the .380 ACP MXIK nods to the Mexica, the people who founded Tenochtitlan on the site of modern Mexico City.
