Overview
The MKE MPT-76M is a lightened select-fire battle rifle chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO, produced by Makina ve Kimya Endüstrisi Kurumu as a weight-reduced version of Turkey's standard MPT-76 national infantry rifle. The 'M' designation marks the MKE-built lightened model, trimming roughly 750 grams from the base rifle through a revised receiver and furniture while retaining the short-stroke gas piston, rotating bolt and modular Picatinny-railed layout. It is intended for missions where reduced soldier load and improved handling matter, without sacrificing the 7.62x51mm hitting power that replaced the ageing Heckler & Koch G3 in Turkish service.

Background
The MPT-76 family is the centerpiece of Turkey's drive for small-arms independence, replacing the licensed G3 that had armed its soldiers for decades. The lightened 'M' model answers a common complaint about full-power 7.62mm rifles (that they are heavy to carry all day) by shaving weight while keeping the cartridge's reach and lethality.
