Mossberg 505
O.F. Mossberg & Sons · Shotgun · In Production · 2005
Also known as: Mossberg 505 Youth, Mossberg 505 Compact, Mossberg Bantam 505
Overview
The Mossberg 505 is a youth-sized pump-action shotgun built on a scaled-down version of the popular Mossberg 500 platform. Chambered for the .410 Bore with a 3-inch chamber, it pairs a 20-inch vent-rib barrel with a compact hardwood stock featuring a 12-inch length of pull and an EZ-Reach forend, making it well suited to smaller-framed and younger shooters learning wingshooting and small-game hunting. It retains the 500 series' top-tang safety, dual-extractor bolt and twin-shell anti-jam elevator while keeping overall weight around 5.25 pounds.

Background
Introduced as the smallest member of Mossberg's Bantam youth line, the 505 was designed to give younger shooters a properly scaled shotgun rather than a cut-down adult gun, echoing the 500's reputation as an affordable, reliable pump.
