Mossberg 990 SPX Magpul
O.F. Mossberg & Sons · Shotgun · In Production · 2026
Also known as: 990 SPX Magpul
Overview
The Mossberg 990 SPX Magpul is a gas-operated semi-automatic tactical shotgun chambered in 12 gauge (3-inch) and dressed in Magpul furniture. The gas system is housed entirely within the forend for smooth, consistent cycling across a wide range of ammunition. The standard configuration pairs an 18.5-inch barrel with a 7+1 tube and Accu-Choke, a Magpul SGA stock, and an SPX handguard with M-LOK slots and integrated QD sling cups. The receiver is optic-ready and topped with a ghost-ring rear and fiber-optic front sight, with nickel-boron coatings on internal components for corrosion resistance and slick cycling.

Background
Mossberg, long synonymous with the pump-action 500 and 590, leaned into the semi-auto defensive market with the 990 line, then handed the tactical flagship to Magpul's SGA stock and SPX handguard for a factory build that previously demanded an aftermarket parts bin.
