Overview
The MP-446 Viking (also marketed as Baikal MR-446) is the civilian sport variant of the MP-443 Grach Yarygin service pistol, manufactured by the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant. Chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum, it uses a Browning-style short-recoil tilting-barrel action, a polyamide (polymer) frame, and an exposed-hammer DA/SA trigger. The barrel is intentionally weakened relative to the military Grach to prevent safe use of high-pressure 7N21 armor-piercing or +P+ ammunition, restricting it to standard pressure 9x19mm sporting loads.

Notes
An IPSC-optimized sport version (MR-446S) is offered with a 120 mm barrel, adjustable rear sight, and tuned trigger. Frame uses polyamide instead of the steel of the MP-443.
Background
The Viking was created so Russian shooters could legally own and compete with a near-identical version of the army's Yarygin service pistol - but the factory deliberately under-spec'd the barrel so no one could feed it the wickedly hot 7N21 AP ammo issued to special-forces operators.
