Overview
The MTs 109 is a Soviet and Russian high-grade custom double-barreled over-and-under 12-gauge hunting shotgun built by TsKIB SOO in Tula. Designed by N. S. Ryzhov and M. I. Skvortsov and produced in small numbers from 1971, it uses a break-action with internal hammers and separate lock and trigger mechanisms, and is finished with hand engraving and select walnut. It ranks among the most expensive and prestigious Soviet sporting firearms.

Notes
Barrels typically feature differing chokes (roughly 1.0 mm constriction on the upper barrel and 0.5 mm on the lower). Deluxe MTs 109-01 examples with gold inlay and premium casing have commanded tens of thousands of euros.

Each MTs 109 is essentially a bespoke piece from TsKIB SOO's master gunmakers, hand-engraved with motifs such as game birds; the top-tier MTs 109-01 has been offered with gold inlay and silver-plated engraving at prices reaching around 60,000 euros.
