Overview
The MTs 30 is a Soviet three-barrel combination hunting rifle (drilling) hand-built by TsKIB SOO in Tula and produced in small numbers between 1960 and 1971. It arranges one rifled barrel beneath two smoothbore shotgun barrels in a hammerless break-action with an ejector, and was made in several custom configurations such as the MTs 30-09 pairing two 12-gauge barrels with a 9x53mmR rifled barrel for pursuing large game like ungulates and bears. Fitted with a select walnut stock with cheekpiece and an optical-sight mount, it ranks among the higher-grade Soviet sporting combination guns.

Notes
A bespoke combination gun made to individual order; the MTs 30-01 test prototype used two 20/70 smoothbore barrels with a 5.6mm rifled barrel, while later variants (MTs 30-09, MTs 30-12, MTs 30-13) used 12-gauge smoothbore barrels. In January 1979 a custom MTs 30-09 reportedly cost around 2,000 roubles.
Background
Each MTs 30 was assembled to order by TsKIB SOO's master gunmakers as a big-game combination gun, uniting shot barrels for birds with a heavy rifled barrel intended to stop bears and other large game in a single break-open piece.
