Overview
The OSV-96 is a Russian semi-automatic anti-materiel and large-caliber sniper rifle chambered in 12.7x108mm. Developed at the KBP Instrument Design Bureau in Tula in the early 1990s as the V-94, it was redesignated OSV-96 and adopted by Russian special forces. It is gas-operated with a rotating bolt and feeds from a 5-round detachable box magazine. Its most distinctive feature is a hinged barrel that folds alongside the receiver, dramatically shortening it for transport and concealed deployment. Fitted with a heavy muzzle brake, bipod, and optical sights, it is used to engage lightly armored vehicles, materiel, and personnel at extended ranges.
