Overview
The Mauser M1890 is a German-designed bolt-action service rifle produced by Waffenfabrik Mauser for the Ottoman Empire and chambered in 7.65x53mm. Derived from the Mauser Model 1887 and incorporating features of the Belgian Model 1889, it introduced a five-round single-column box magazine charged from stripper clips. Roughly 280,000 were delivered to Turkish forces, who used them extensively through the Balkan Wars and World War I at campaigns such as Gallipoli and Mesopotamia.

Notes

Background
Adopted as the Ottoman Empire modernized its infantry away from single-shot Peabody-Martini rifles, the M1890 was one of the first Mauser repeaters with a charger-loaded box magazine and set the pattern for the better-known Turkish Mausers that followed.
