Also known as: PSA Rock 5.7, PSA 5.7 Rock Complete Pistol, Palmetto State Armory 5.7 Rock

Overview

The PSA 5.7 Rock is a full-size semi-automatic pistol chambered in 5.7x28mm FN, introduced by Palmetto State Armory in 2022 to bring the high-velocity, low-recoil 5.7x28mm cartridge to market at a fraction of the price of established competitors. It pairs a polymer frame with a 416 stainless steel slide finished in QPQ black and decorative fluting, riding over a 4.7-inch carbon steel barrel (threaded variants extend to 5.2 inches). The striker-fired delayed blowback action delivers a notably soft recoil impulse, and the optics-ready slide is cut for direct mounting of micro red dot sights. With a 23+1 round capacity and an MSRP well below the FN Five-seveN and Ruger 57, the 5.7 Rock made the 5.7x28mm platform broadly accessible to American shooters.

Notes

The 5.7 Rock launched the platform that PSA later expanded with the enhanced RK1 model and the smaller 5.7 Rock Compact. It uses a delayed blowback operating system rather than the locked-breech short-recoil action common to most modern service pistols. Listed barrel lengths vary by model: 4.7 inches non-threaded and 5.2 inches threaded (1/2x28 TPI). Empty weight is approximately 25 ounces. Sold in optics-ready configurations and multiple frame colors including black, FDE, and Sniper Green.

Background

Palmetto State Armory built its reputation on aggressively undercutting established prices, and the 5.7 Rock applied that strategy to the 5.7x28mm cartridge - a round long dominated by FN's premium Five-seveN. By offering a 23+1, optics-ready 5.7 pistol at roughly a third of the FN's price, PSA democratized access to the flat-shooting, low-recoil cartridge and spawned a full family of Rock variants.
