Overview
The Palmetto State Armory X5.7 PDW is a compact, quick-deploy personal defense weapon chambered in 5.7x28mm, derived from PSA's 5.7 Rock platform. First shown as a concept at SHOT Show 2024 and updated toward production through 2026, it features an aluminum upper receiver, a polymer lower, a threaded barrel, an AR-style rear charging handle that accepts standard AR charging handles, and a spring-loaded deployable pistol brace for rapid extension. It feeds from the same magazines as PSA's 5.7 Rock pistol. As of 2026 the project was in final endurance testing, with an expected MSRP under $1,000.

Background
Palmetto State Armory teased the X5.7 PDW as a sub-$1,000 answer to the FN P90 and other premium 5.7 personal defense weapons, betting that the cartridge's appeal could be unlocked at a fraction of the legacy price.
