Overview
The Pedersoli Carabinieri Royal Pistol is a modern black-powder reproduction of the Model 1814 flintlock cavalry pistol issued to the mounted Carabinieri of the Kingdom of Sardinia. It is a single-shot, muzzleloading smoothbore handgun chambered for a .58 caliber (15.2 mm) patched round ball, built with a walnut full stock and brass mounts. Its compact 125 mm barrel and light 700 g weight gave the original excellent handling from the saddle.

Background
A decree of 9 August 1814 arming the newly formed Carabinieri specified that mounted troopers each carry 'two anchor pistols' - the pattern Pedersoli faithfully reproduces today.
