Also known as: Pietta 1873 Great Western II Liberty, GW II Liberty, GW45LLE434NMUI

Overview

The Pietta Great Western II Liberty is an Italian-made single-action revolver, a modern reproduction of the Colt Single Action Army (Model 1873) chambered in .45 Colt. Built by F.lli Pietta on their Great Western II platform, the Liberty is a decorative special edition carrying factory laser engraving across the barrel, cylinder, and frame, paired with Ultra Ivory grips bearing a Liberty Eagle motif. It uses the classic 1873 six-shot cylinder loaded one round at a time through a side loading gate, a fixed blade front sight with a frame-top notch rear, and a fixed-cylinder single-action lockwork that must be manually cocked for each shot.

Notes

Cosmetic special edition of the Great Western II line (catalog GW45LLE434NMUI). Chambered in .45 Colt with a 4.75-inch barrel, blued/engraved finish, and Ultra Ivory grips. Mechanically identical to the standard Great Western II, itself a Colt SAA 1873 clone.

Background

The Great Western II name revives the mid-20th-century Great Western Arms Company, which built some of the first American-made Colt Single Action Army clones for post-war fast-draw and Western shooters. Pietta adopted the name for its faithful 1873 SAA reproductions, and the Liberty is one of several engraved 'Ultra Ivory' presentation editions aimed at collectors and cowboy-action shooters who want a decorated six-gun in the traditional .45 Colt chambering.
