Overview
The Pindad SM2 is an Indonesian 7.62x51mm NATO general-purpose machine gun produced by PT Pindad as a license-built derivative of the Belgian FN MAG. It is a belt-fed, gas-operated, open-bolt weapon firing from a disintegrating link belt, designed for sustained fire support by infantry units and on vehicle mounts. The infantry SM2-V1 weighs about 11.6 kg with a 545 mm barrel, while the SM2-V2 vehicle variant uses a shorter overall layout with a 587 mm barrel and a higher cyclic rate.

Notes

The SM2 forms part of Pindad's Senapan Mesin (machine gun) family alongside the heavier 12.7 mm SM5 and is the standard general-purpose machine gun supporting the SS series of Indonesian service rifles.
