Overview
The HMG PK-16 is a Pakistani gas-operated, air-cooled, belt-fed heavy machine gun designed and produced by Pakistan Ordnance Factories. Chambered in 12.7x108mm and unveiled at the IDEAS 2016 defence exhibition, it is intended primarily for infantry fire support, firing at 540-600 rounds per minute with an effective range of roughly 1,500-1,600 metres from a 360-degree traversing tripod mount.

Notes
Barrel is rated for replacement after approximately 3,500 rounds. The weapon can be assembled by a two-person crew in under six minutes and the tripod allows elevation from -26 to +73 degrees with full 360-degree traverse.
Background
Unveiled at Pakistan's IDEAS 2016 arms exhibition, the PK-16 designation reflects the year the heavy machine gun was first shown to the public, giving Pakistan Ordnance Factories a domestically produced 12.7mm answer to the ageing Soviet DShK and NSV in Pakistani service.
