Also known as: POF P308, POF-USA P308, Patriot Ordnance Factory P-308

Overview

The POF-USA P-308 is Patriot Ordnance Factory's full-power 7.62x51mm NATO battle rifle, an AR-10-pattern platform driven by the company's regulated short-stroke gas piston operating system rather than direct impingement. A two-position adjustable gas plug tunes the rifle for normal or suppressed operation, while NP3-coated internals and POF's self-lubricating design philosophy let the action run without traditional oiling for improved reliability in dirty conditions. The rifle uses a fluted barrel to shed weight and heat, a free-floating monolithic top rail with M-LOK and Picatinny mounting, ambidextrous controls, POF's heat-sink barrel nut, and an anti-tilt buffer tube. Common configurations include 16.5-inch and 20-inch barrels, and the P-308 feeds from DPMS/SR-25-pattern .308 magazines. It is offered in standard, lightweight Edge, and updated Gen 4 forms.

Background

Patriot Ordnance Factory was founded by engineer Frank DeSomma, who built the company around piston-driven, self-lubricating AR designs intended to run reliably without oil, the P-308 brought that gas-piston philosophy to the harder-hitting 7.62 NATO platform.
