Overview
The POF P415 Edge represents Patriot Ordnance Factory's commitment to engineering excellence in the piston-driven AR-15 market. Built around a mid-length short-stroke gas piston system with a 5-position adjustable gas plug, the P415 Edge offers exceptional versatility for suppressed and unsuppressed fire, various ammunition types, and adverse conditions. The 16.5-inch match-grade barrel is manufactured from 4150 CrMoV steel with button rifling and 5R lands and grooves, then treated with black nitride heat treatment for extreme durability and corrosion resistance. The 1:8 twist rate is optimized for modern 5.56mm loadings from 55 to 77 grains. POF's proprietary E2 dual-extraction technology uses both a conventional extractor and chamber fluting to ensure reliable extraction even in the most demanding conditions. The one-piece billet-machined piston bolt carrier features an integrated mechanical key positioned behind the cam pin, eliminating carrier tilt and preventing key misalignment-common failure points in gas piston systems. All critical components including the bolt, extractor, and firing pin are nickel-plated for enhanced reliability and ease of cleaning. The roller cam pin reduces friction and wear during cycling. Complete ambidextrous controls include safety selector, magazine release, and bolt catch, making the P415 Edge equally suitable for left and right-handed shooters. At just 7 pounds empty, the P415 Edge balances the benefits of piston operation with minimal weight penalty.
