Purdey Bolt-Action Rifle
James Purdey & Sons Ltd · Rifle · In Production · 2019
Also known as: Purdey Bolt Action Rifle, Purdey Safari Rifle
Overview
The Purdey Bolt-Action Rifle is a British best-quality bolt-action hunting rifle built by James Purdey & Sons of London. Launched in 2019, it uses a double square-bridge M98-style controlled-round-feed action machined in-house for the first time in the company's history, seated in a CNC-machined titanium chassis embedded within a hand-finished deluxe walnut stock. Chambered here in .375 H&H Magnum, the Safari-grade rifle is a dangerous-game and safari arm; Purdey builds the rifle to order across short, standard and magnum actions in over 200 chamberings.

Background
James Purdey & Sons, founded in 1814 and long celebrated for its best-quality London shotguns and double rifles, first offered the Purdey-Mauser bolt-action rifle from 1931. The 2019 rifle marked the firm's return to bolt-actions with the action manufactured entirely in-house for the first time, making it an all-British Purdey product rather than one built on a bought-in German Mauser action.
