Overview
The PWS MK116 is a piston-operated AR-15-pattern carbine chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO (.223 Wylde) and built by Primary Weapons Systems of Boise, Idaho. It uses the company's signature long-stroke gas piston operating system, in which the piston connects directly to the bolt carrier group to reduce carrier tilt and fouling, paired with a three-position adjustable gas regulator. The 16.1-inch chrome-lined barrel carries a 1:8 twist and a PWS flash-suppressing compensator, and the rifle features fully ambidextrous controls, a free-float M-LOK handguard, and a sub-MOA accuracy guarantee.

Background
Primary Weapons Systems made its name applying long-stroke gas piston operation, more commonly associated with the AK and FN SCAR, to the AR-15 platform, positioning the MK1-series rifles as cleaner-running, more reliable alternatives to direct-impingement ARs.
