Rippel Effect XRGL40
Rippel Effect Systems (Pty) Ltd · Shotgun · In Production · 2014
Also known as: XRGL40
Overview
The Rippel Effect XRGL40 is a South African six-shot, semi-automatic 40mm grenade launcher. Fed from a rotating cylinder magazine holding six rounds, it uses a proprietary gas-operated (VPPD) mechanism to advance the cylinder, giving rapid semi-automatic engagement. Its rifled barrel and extended-range design allow effective ranges of 375m with standard 40x46mm low-velocity ammunition, up to 600m with extended-range rounds, and 800m with 40x51mm medium-velocity grenades. It is the successor to the Milkor MGL line, developed after the Milkor small-arms division became Rippel Effect.

Background
Rippel Effect was formed from the small-arms division of Milkor, the South African firm famous for pioneering the multiple grenade launcher; the XRGL40 carries that lineage forward with a gas-operated cylinder that fires all six rounds semi-automatically instead of by manual double-action.
