Overview
The Ruger American Gen II Scout is the scout-rifle configuration of Ruger's redesigned Generation II bolt-action platform, replacing the earlier Ruger Gunsite Scout. Chambered in .308 Winchester with a compact 16.1-inch cold hammer-forged threaded barrel and factory flash suppressor, it carries a forward-mounted Scout-length scope rail for intermediate-eye-relief optics alongside AR-style iron sights. It features the Ruger Marksman Adjustable trigger, Power Bedding integral bedding block, an adjustable length-of-pull stock, and a five-round AI-style detachable magazine.

Background
The scout-rifle concept, popularized by Col. Jeff Cooper, calls for a light, handy bolt-action with a forward-mounted low-power optic; Ruger folded that philosophy into its Gen II American platform to retire the older Gunsite Scout.
