Also known as: Hawkeye LRT, M77 Hawkeye Long-Range Target
Overview
The Ruger Hawkeye Long-Range Target is a heavy-barreled bolt-action precision rifle built on Ruger's proven M77 Hawkeye action. Introduced in 2018, it combines a 26-inch 4140 chrome-moly steel barrel with 5R rifling and a Ruger Precision Rifle Hybrid Muzzle Brake for exceptional long-range accuracy. The adjustable two-stage target trigger provides a short take-up stage followed by a crisp, light break with no creep or overtravel. The laminate stock features an adjustable comb height and length of pull, making it highly adaptable to individual shooters. Compatible with AI-style magazines, the rifle accepts 10-round Magpul PMAG magazines in 6.5 Creedmoor. A 20 MOA Picatinny rail is integral to the receiver for long-range optics mounting.

Notes
The Hawkeye Long-Range Target uses Ruger's non-rotating Mauser-type controlled-round-feed extractor, providing reliable feeding and extraction. The 5R rifling pattern features lands opposite grooves rather than land-to-land, which reduces bullet deformation and copper fouling while enhancing accuracy. The barrel is threaded at 5/8-24 for suppressor or muzzle device attachment. At 11 lbs, the rifle is designed for bench rest and prone shooting rather than field carry.
Background
The Hawkeye Long-Range Target represents Ruger's marriage of their classic M77 controlled-round-feed action with modern precision rifle features, offering shooters a traditional bolt-action feel with PRS-ready capabilities.
