Overview

The Ruger SP101 Wiley Clapp is a compact, small-frame double-action/single-action revolver chambered in .357 Magnum (and firing .38 Special), built as a TALO distributor exclusive to the specifications of firearms writer Wiley Clapp. Based on the stainless-steel SP101, it adds a set of Novak sights - a windage-adjustable rear paired with a brass-bead front - a 3-inch barrel, and a cushioned rubber grip with engraved hardwood inserts, making it a purpose-built concealed-carry and defensive wheelgun.

Notes

Offered by TALO in two barrel lengths: a 3-inch model (Ruger 5720/KSP-321XWC, ~28 oz) and a 2.25-inch model (Ruger 5774, ~26 oz). Both share the Novak sight package and stainless construction. The SP101's beefy frame lets the small revolver handle full-power .357 Magnum loads.

Background

Wiley Clapp is a retired U.S. Marine Corps officer, longtime firearms writer, and defensive-shooting authority who has lent his name to signature carry-gun editions from several makers. His SP101 reflects a practical carry philosophy: rugged stainless steel, fixed but adjustable-for-windage Novak sights for a fast, snag-free sight picture, and enough weight to tame stout .357 Magnum recoil.
