Also known as: Ruger Custom Shop Super GP100 9mm, Super GP100 Competition 9mm

Overview

The Ruger Super GP100 9mm is a competition-grade, eight-shot double-action revolver chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum. Built by the Ruger Custom Shop, it feeds from full moon clips that align the rimless 9mm cartridges and allow all eight rounds to be loaded and ejected at once. It carries a six-inch cold-hammer-forged barrel with an 11-degree target crown, a triple-locking PVD-coated cylinder, a Hogue one-piece hardwood grip, an adjustable white-outline rear sight, and a dovetailed fiber-optic front sight over a polished, tuned action aimed at ICORE and USPSA revolver shooters.

Notes

Ruger Custom Shop model #5066. MSRP approximately $1,549. Ships with a travel case, three full moon clips, and an extraction tool. The 9mm chambering lets competitors use inexpensive, low-recoil ammunition and fast moon-clip reloads.

Background

Ruger's Custom Shop added the 9mm chambering to the Super GP100 line in late 2019 to broaden its appeal in revolver competition, where moon-clip 9mm loads offer soft recoil, cheap practice ammunition, and very fast reloads compared with the earlier .357 Magnum and .38 Special models.
