Overview
The Savage B17 is a bolt-action rimfire rifle chambered in .17 Hornady Magnum Rimfire, introduced in 2017 as part of Savage Arms' B Series to replace the earlier Model 93 line. It feeds from a 10-round rotary magazine and incorporates the user-adjustable AccuTrigger, a button-rifled barrel with a 1-in-9 inch twist, a tang-mounted safety, and a receiver drilled and tapped for Picatinny optic mounting. Offered in numerous stock and barrel configurations, it is aimed at small-game hunters and target shooters.

Sold in many configurations (F, FV-SR, Precision, TimberLite Thumbhole and others) that differ in stock, barrel length and finish; the FV-SR uses a threaded heavy barrel of about 16.25 inches while sporter models use a longer 21-inch barrel.
Background
The .17 HMR cartridge the B17 is built around was developed by Hornady in 2002 by necking down the .22 WMR case to fire a tiny, extremely fast .17-caliber bullet, giving flat trajectories prized for small-game and varmint shooting.
