Overview

The Savage Impulse Elite Precision is a straight-pull bolt-action precision rifle that combines the rapid cycling speed of a straight-pull action with the accuracy demands of modern long-range competition. Unlike conventional bolt-action rifles that require the shooter to lift and rotate the bolt handle, the Savage Impulse uses a unique straight-pull mechanism where the bolt travels directly rearward and forward with a simple push-pull motion, dramatically reducing cycling time and allowing the shooter to maintain cheek weld and sight picture between shots. The rifle is built on the MDT ACC (Adjustable Core Competition) aluminum chassis with ARCA rail forend and M-LOK slots, providing a rigid, fully adjustable platform for precision shooting. The heavy Palma-profile stainless steel barrel is threaded 5/8x24 and fitted with a four-port muzzle brake. Savage's user-adjustable AccuTrigger provides a crisp pull adjustable from 1.5 to 4 lbs without requiring gunsmith intervention.

Notes

The Savage Impulse is the first American-made straight-pull bolt-action rifle designed for the precision rifle market. The straight-pull action allows significantly faster cycling than conventional bolt-actions while maintaining the lockup strength and accuracy of a traditional bolt. Also available in 6mm Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC, .300 PRC, and .300 Win Mag. MSRP approximately $2,700.

Background

The Impulse Elite Precision represents Savage's bold entry into the straight-pull precision rifle market, a segment long dominated by European manufacturers like Blaser and Merkel. By pairing their American-designed straight-pull action with the MDT ACC competition chassis, Savage created a rifle that can cycle nearly as fast as a semi-automatic while maintaining the inherent accuracy advantages of a locked-bolt action.
