Overview
The Savage Mark II is a bolt-action .22 Long Rifle rimfire introduced under the Savage brand in 1995, after Savage Arms acquired the Canadian manufacturer Lakefield Arms and absorbed its Mark II rifle line. The Mark II is one of the most popular rimfire training and small-game rifles on the North American market, prized for its accuracy, low cost, and adoption of the user-adjustable AccuTrigger. The line includes more than a dozen variants ranging from the basic synthetic-stock F to the heavy-barrel FV, the compact threaded FV-SR, the laminate-stock BV, and target-oriented BRJ and TR models.

Mark II inherits the action originally designed by Lakefield Arms (Lakefield, Ontario, Canada) which was acquired by Savage in 1995. Specifications shown are typical for the standard Mark II G/F (21" barrel, 10-round detachable magazine). The Mark I is the single-shot version of the same action.
Background
The Mark II isn't really a Savage design at all - it came north from Lakefield, Ontario when Savage Arms bought the Canadian rimfire specialist Lakefield Arms in 1995. The action's heritage is part of why it shoots so well: Lakefield was already known for accurate, affordable rimfires, and Savage simply added the AccuTrigger to make it the benchmark budget .22 LR bolt gun in North America.
