Overview

The Savage Striker is a bolt-action hunting and metallic silhouette pistol produced by Savage Arms from 1998 to 2005. Built on the short-action variant of the Savage Model 110 rifle, it pairs a 14-inch (360 mm) barrel with a composite center-grip stock and was offered in calibers ranging from .223 Remington up to .308 Winchester. The Model 510 was the standard right-handed version, while the Model 516 reversed the bolt for left-handed shooters, both feeding from a small two- or three-round detachable box magazine.

Notes

Originally sold with a center-grip composite stock; a rear-grip variant was later offered, extending overall length to roughly 610 mm. The action used different bolt heads depending on the cartridge rim group and accepted standard small-shank Savage barrels.

Background

The Striker grew out of the metallic silhouette and handgun-hunting boom of the 1990s, when shooters wanted rifle-caliber accuracy in a single-handed package. By mounting a short Savage 110 action in a composite center-grip stock, the Striker delivered .308 Winchester ballistics from a 14-inch barrel for long-range varmint and big-game hunting.
