Overview
The SCSA Taipan is an Australian-designed and manufactured pump-action centrefire rifle, purpose-built to comply with Australia's strict firearms regulations while providing a fast-handling, AR-style ergonomic platform. Named after Australia's deadliest snake, the Taipan feeds from standard AR-15 magazines and features a free-floating barrel, M-LOK compatible handguard, adjustable stock, and full-length Picatinny top rail. The pump action - categorized under Australia's less restrictive licensing categories - cycles rapidly for follow-up shots. Available in .223 Remington and .300 AAC Blackout, with Cerakote finish options in black, grey, and burnt bronze.

Notes
The Taipan is manufactured by Southern Cross Small Arms (SCSA) in Australia. It was designed specifically to work within Australia's firearms legislation, where semi-automatic centrefire rifles require extremely difficult-to-obtain Category D licenses. The pump-action falls under the more accessible Category B. AR-15 magazine compatibility (including Magpul PMAG) provides standard 10, 20, or 30-round capacity. Available in Light (lightweight profile), X (standard tactical), and Evo (evolved with enhanced features) variants. Multiple Cerakote color options available.
Background
The SCSA Taipan represents Australian ingenuity in the face of restrictive firearms laws - by building a pump-action centrefire rifle with AR-15 ergonomics and magazine compatibility, Southern Cross Small Arms created a platform that gives Australian shooters the modern rifle experience while remaining legal under Category B licensing. Named after the Taipan - Australia's most venomous snake - the rifle has become a cult favorite among Australian sport shooters.
