SIG Sauer P320 Carry

SIG Sauer · Pistol · In Production · 2014

Also known as: P320 Carry, P320 Carry Nitron

Overview

The SIG Sauer P320 Carry is a carry-size variant of the modular P320 striker-fired pistol platform, combining a compact 3.9-inch (99mm) slide and barrel with a full-size grip frame that accepts 17-round flush-fit magazines. Introduced alongside the full-size P320 in 2014, the Carry variant was specifically designed for everyday concealed carry, offering a shorter overall length of 183mm compared to the full-size model's 203mm while retaining the same 17+1 capacity and full-size grip ergonomics. Built around the same serialized stainless steel fire control unit (FCU) as all P320 variants, the Carry shares the platform's hallmark modularity - the FCU can be removed and dropped into any P320-compatible grip module or slide assembly. The polymer grip frame houses a Nitron-finished stainless steel slide, carbon steel barrel, and the signature smooth striker-fired trigger with approximately 29 newtons (6.5 lbs) of pull weight. Standard features include three-dot contrast sights, an M1913 accessory rail, reversible magazine release, and three interchangeable grip frame sizes (small, medium, large). Weighing approximately 737 grams (26 oz) unloaded, the P320 Carry bridges the gap between the full-size duty pistol and the smaller compact model.

Notes

The P320 Carry occupies a unique position in the P320 lineup: it uses the compact-length slide (3.9-inch barrel) paired with the full-size grip module, resulting in a pistol that conceals more easily under clothing while maintaining the full 17-round magazine capacity. This is the same basic concept later refined in the X-Carry with enhanced ergonomics and the M18 military variant with a manual safety. The Carry shares the same fire control unit as all P320 variants and benefits from the same voluntary upgrade program SIG implemented in 2017 to address early drop-safety concerns. Unlike the X-Carry which features a flat trigger and optic-ready slide, the standard P320 Carry ships with a curved trigger and standard dovetail sights. The P320 Carry is also available in .40 S&W and .357 SIG through caliber exchange kits, though 9mm remains the dominant chambering. Manufactured at SIG Sauer's Newington, New Hampshire facility.

Background

The P320 Carry represents the 'goldilocks' configuration of the P320 platform - a compact slide for easier concealment paired with a full-size grip for maximum capacity and shootability. This carry-size concept proved so popular that it became the template for the X-Carry and ultimately the military M18 compact sidearm. The standard P320 Carry is often recommended as the ideal starting point for the P320 platform, as its FCU can later be swapped into any other P320 configuration.
