Overview
The SIG Sauer P938 SAS is the SIG Anti-Snag variant of the P938 micro-compact 1911-style pistol, introduced in 2020. Based on the P938 platform - itself a 9mm scaled-up version of the P238 in .380 ACP - the SAS variant undergoes a radical dehorning process that removes all sharp edges and protrusions to create an ultra-smooth, snag-free profile ideal for deep concealment. The single-action-only (SAO) pistol features a 3-inch barrel, aluminum alloy frame, and polished engraved stainless steel slide. Unlike the striker-fired P365 SAS which uses the FT Bullseye sight, the P938 SAS retains full-size SIGLITE night sights that are flush-fitted to minimize snag potential. The ambidextrous thumb safety enables traditional 1911-style cocked-and-locked carry. With a 7+1 capacity and a weight of just 16 ounces unloaded, the P938 SAS was among the lightest all-metal 9mm micro-compacts available. The P938 platform was discontinued around 2022 as the P365 family supplanted it in SIG's lineup.

The P938 is fundamentally different from the P365 family - it uses a traditional 1911-style single-action-only trigger mechanism with an external hammer and manual thumb safety, rather than a striker-fired system. The barrel features left-hand twist rifling (1:10), which is unusual for modern pistols. The aluminum alloy frame keeps weight low but transmits more felt recoil than the polymer P365 despite the heavier slide. The SAS dehorning treatment was applied to the P938 after proving successful on the P365 SAS in 2019. The P938 SAS was relatively short-lived, produced from 2020 until the P938 line was discontinued around 2022, making it one of the rarer P938 variants.
Background
The P938 was SIG Sauer's answer to the demand for a micro-compact 9mm with 1911-style ergonomics and controls. It found a loyal following among shooters who preferred the crisp single-action trigger and manual safety of a traditional design over the modern striker-fired P365. The SAS variant represented the last major evolution of the platform before it was retired, combining the beloved P938 action with the snag-free treatment that had proven popular on the P365 SAS. Today the P938 SAS is sought after by collectors and 1911-platform enthusiasts as a discontinued piece of SIG's micro-compact lineage.
