SOLGW MK1 CAR
Sons of Liberty Gun Works · Carbine · In Production · 2024
Overview
The SOLGW MK1 CAR is Sons of Liberty Gun Works' premier 'ultimate fighting rifle,' a purpose-built carbine selected by U.S. Special Operations Command in 2025 as a new 5.56 Combat Assault Rifle. It starts with a billet upper, lower, and rail receiver set, paired with an MK1-specific handguard featuring a continuous M1913 top rail, minimal deflection, integrated cable routing, laser texturing, and 7-sided M-LOK slots. The extended barrel nut is titanium with a heat-management coating. The barrel is a new medium-contour 'P3' profile with 3-groove polygonal rifling, conservative gas porting, a 5/8x24 muzzle thread, and a .750-inch gas journal. It uses the enhanced A5-length buffer system, an NP3-coated SOLGW bolt carrier group, a Liberty charging handle with small latch, the Liberty 2-stage trigger, and an ambidextrous Badger selector. Offered in 11.5-inch CAR configuration with anodized or Cerakote finishes.

Notes
MSRP around $2,899 (anodized) to $3,199 (Cerakote MK1 camo). SOCOM awarded SOLGW the MK1 contract on 20 November 2025. The MK1 is offered as the 11.5-inch CAR and 14.5-inch Recce (see separate entry). Slight cosmetic shade variation between upper, lower, and handguard is inherent to the anodizing process and not considered a defect. Lifetime warranty.
Background
The MK1 is the rifle that put Sons of Liberty Gun Works on the special-operations map: in November 2025 USSOCOM selected the MK1 Combat Assault Rifle as a new 5.56 weapon, a rare win for a relatively young Texas firearm maker.
