Overview

The Springfield Armory 1911 Operator AOS is a full-size, optics-ready .45 ACP 1911 introduced in 2025 in the threaded-barrel configuration. It combines a forged carbon-steel frame and slide finished in black Cerakote with a 5.75-inch forged stainless threaded barrel (.578x28) for muzzle devices, and adds Springfield's Agency Optic System (AOS), which uses interchangeable mounting plates that integrate the rear sight to deliver correct optic height and co-witness with the suppressor-height tritium front sight. It carries duty-grade appointments including G10 grips, an ambidextrous thumb safety, forward cocking serrations, and an integral accessory rail.

Background

Springfield grafted its modern Agency Optic System plate setup onto John Browning's century-old 1911 design, letting a threaded-barrel .45 wear a modern red dot while keeping a co-witnessing tritium front sight.
