Also known as: Hellcat OSP .380, Hellcat .380 OSP, HC931380BOSP

Overview

The Springfield Hellcat OSP 380 is a micro-compact, striker-fired semi-automatic pistol chambered in .380 ACP, introduced in 2025 as an optics-ready variant of the Hellcat .380 platform. It retains the same external dimensions as the original 9mm Hellcat -- measuring just 152.4mm (6.0 inches) long, 101.6mm (4.0 inches) tall, and 25.4mm (1.0 inch) wide -- while offering significantly reduced recoil impulse from the .380 ACP chambering. At only 456g (16.1 oz) empty, the slimmer .380-caliber slide architecture shaves weight compared to the 9mm version. The OSP (Optical Sight Pistol) designation indicates the factory-milled slide that accepts Shield RMSc/SMSc-pattern micro red dot optics in a direct-mount configuration, with the optic sitting low enough for the U-Notch iron sights to co-witness. The pistol ships with an 11-round flush-fit magazine and a 13-round extended magazine, both constructed from stainless steel. Key features include Springfield's Adaptive Grip Texture, a 76.2mm (3-inch) hammer-forged Melonite-finished barrel, dual captive recoil spring with full-length guide rod, tritium/luminescent front sight, and reversible magazine release. The .380 ACP chambering makes it particularly well-suited for recoil-sensitive shooters who want a soft-shooting concealed carry option with optics capability.

Notes

The Hellcat OSP 380 combines the .380 ACP chambering introduced in the Hellcat .380 line with the optics-ready slide of the OSP series. The lighter slide compared to the 9mm Hellcat is purpose-engineered for reliable .380 ACP cycling. MSRP is $653. Model number HC931380BOSP. The pistol uses the same holster fit as the standard Hellcat and Hellcat OSP 9mm. The .380 ACP version is not compatible with 9mm Hellcat magazines. The optic mounting interface uses the Shield RMSc footprint, compatible with optics from Shield, Holosun, Swampfox, and others in the micro red dot category.

Background

The Hellcat .380 platform was developed in response to growing demand for softer-shooting micro-compact pistols, particularly among new shooters and those with hand strength limitations. The .380 ACP's lower pressure and recoil impulse allow the same Hellcat frame to deliver a markedly more controllable shooting experience while maintaining the class-leading capacity and dimensions that made the Hellcat famous. Springfield Armory manufactures the Hellcat through their partnership with Croatian firm HS Produkt.
