Springfield Armory 1911 DS Prodigy Comp
Springfield Armory, Inc. · Pistol · In Production · 2025
Also known as: 1911 DS Prodigy Comp, Prodigy Comp, Prodigy Comp AOS
Overview
The Springfield Armory 1911 DS Prodigy Comp is a compensated, optics-ready variant of the double-stack 2011-pattern Prodigy chambered in 9mm. It combines traditional 1911 single-action handling and ergonomics with modern double-stack capacity and adds a forged stainless-steel bull barrel with an integral compensator to reduce muzzle rise. The forged carbon-steel slide wears a black Cerakote finish with deep front and rear serrations and Springfield's Agency Optic System (AOS) for direct red-dot mounting. The 4.25-inch model ships with both a 17-round flush magazine and an extended 20-round magazine; a 5-inch configuration is also offered.

Notes
Weight is approximately 32.5 oz (921 g). The 4.25-inch barrel configuration is documented here; a 5-inch Comp model is also produced. Overall length approximately 7.8 inches for the 4.25-inch model. Single-action-only 2011-pattern double-stack 1911.
Background
Springfield's Prodigy line had already pulled the 2011 double-stack 1911 down to a mass-market price point; the Comp went a step further by machining a competition-style integral compensator onto a forged bull barrel, putting a near-race-gun setup into a factory-priced carry and competition pistol.
