Overview
The Standard Manufacturing DP-12 is the world's first double-barrel pump-action repeating shotgun. Introduced in 2015 by Standard Manufacturing of New Britain, Connecticut, the DP-12 utilizes an innovative bullpup layout with two 18 7/8-inch barrels positioned side by side, each fed by its own dedicated tubular magazine holding up to 7 rounds of 2 3/4-inch 12-gauge ammunition for a total capacity of 16 rounds (14+2). A single pump stroke chambers a round in each barrel, and two sequential trigger pulls fire the right barrel first, then the left. The bullpup configuration keeps the overall length to just 29.5 inches despite the full-length barrels, making it highly maneuverable for home defense and close-quarters applications. The Generation II model features a patented polymer and aluminum frame construction, dual Picatinny rails for optics and accessories, Tru-Choke threaded barrels with included spreader chokes, ambidextrous safety controls, and bottom-ejecting shell ports for true ambidextrous operation. At 9 pounds 12 ounces unloaded, the DP-12 is heavy but its weight is ergonomically distributed to balance the loaded firearm for controllable handling and reduced felt recoil.

The DP-12 requires a two-step firing sequence per pump cycle: the first trigger pull fires the right barrel and the second fires the left. This is distinct from traditional double-barrel shotguns which fire both barrels with one pump action each. The shell indicator windows allow visual confirmation of remaining ammunition in each tube. When loaded with 3-inch magnum shells, capacity is reduced to 14 rounds (12+2) with 6 per tube. The DP-12 Professional variant is built specifically for military and law enforcement use, featuring mil-spec hard anodized aluminum, PVD-coated wear surfaces, hand-lapped bores and chambers, and an adjustable reflex sight. The spreader choke tubes are designed to produce a devastating pattern at 25 yards for maximum effectiveness in defensive scenarios.
