Standard Target Buntline

Also known as: Standard Manufacturing Single Action Buntline Target, Standard SAA Target Buntline
Overview
The Standard Target Buntline is a premium single action revolver chambered in .45 Colt, built by Standard Manufacturing as a faithful, hand-fitted recreation of the long-barreled Colt Buntline in its target configuration. It pairs a 12-inch barrel with a flip-up elevation-adjustable rear sight, a rifle-style front sight, and a modified hammer screw for mounting a detachable shoulder stock, all echoing the original Buntline Target. The entire revolver is machined from solid 4140 steel with no cast or metal-injection-molded parts, wears bone-and-charcoal color case hardening on the frame with deep-blued barrel and cylinder and fire-blued screws, and carries a one-piece walnut grip.

Notes
Barrel length, overall length and weight are approximate for the 12-inch Buntline configuration; the standard 4.75-, 5.5- and 7.5-inch Standard single action revolvers weigh roughly 40 oz (1134 g). Uses a cone-shaped firing pin and no transfer bar. Color case hardening is done by the historically correct bone-and-charcoal process.
Background
The Buntline legend traces to Wyatt Earp biographer Stuart N. Lake, who in 1931 claimed dime novelist Ned Buntline gifted lawmen extra-long-barreled Colt Single Action Armys; Standard Manufacturing's Target Buntline revives that outsized silhouette with modern steel and target sights.
