Star Model FRS
Star Bonifacio Echeverria, S.A. · Pistol · Discontinued · 1970
Also known as: Star FRS, Star F-Series FRS
Overview
The Star Model FRS is a blowback-operated, single-action semi-automatic target pistol chambered in .22 Long Rifle, produced by the Spanish maker Star Bonifacio Echeverria of Eibar. It belongs to the long-running F series of rimfire sporting pistols that began with the Model F in 1932 and evolved through the FS, FR and FRS designations. The FRS pairs a fixed barrel and simple straight-blowback action with an external hammer and single-action lockwork, giving a light, consistent trigger favoured for informal target shooting and small-bore training. An adjustable rear sight and a longer sport-length barrel improve its accuracy over the plainer pocket-sized models, while the all-steel frame and slide give the pistol a solid, muzzle-heavy balance. A thumb-operated frame safety sits behind the trigger on the left side of the frame, and the single-stack magazine holds ten rounds of .22 LR.

Background
Star Bonifacio Echeverria of Eibar built its reputation on rugged military-pattern automatics, but its F-series .22 target pistols gave Spanish shooters an affordable, home-grown option for plinking and small-bore practice. The FRS, with its adjustable sights and longer barrel, was among the more refined members of that family before the company closed its doors in the 1990s.
