Star Model H

Star Bonifacio Echeverria, S.A. · Pistol · Discontinued · 1932

Also known as: Star H

Overview

The Star Model H is a compact blowback-operated, single-action semi-automatic pocket pistol produced by the Spanish firm Star Bonifacio Echeverria of Eibar. Chambered for the .32 ACP (7.65mm Browning) cartridge and fed from a single-stack detachable box magazine, it belongs to Star's inter-war lettered pocket-pistol line, which also included the .380 ACP Model HN and the Model HK. Like other Eibar-pattern designs, it uses a fixed barrel with the slide held closed by spring pressure and cartridge inertia alone.

Notes

One of Star's H-series pocket pistols, produced circa 1932-1941 and described by Gun Digest as 'similar to the old Model CO, only larger in size.' The Imperial War Museums records the family as marketed in the Model H (7.65mm/.32 ACP) and Model HN (9mm Short/.380 ACP) chamberings. Physical dimensions (weight, length, barrel length, magazine capacity) are not documented in surviving reference sources.

Background

Star Bonifacio Echeverria was one of only a handful of Spanish arms makers permitted to keep operating after the Spanish Civil War, and the company churned out an alphabet-soup catalogue of pocket pistols before finally closing its doors in 1997.
