Overview
The Steyr L9-A1 is a full-size, striker-fired, polymer-framed semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum. Introduced in 2013 as the largest member of the Steyr A1 pistol family, it pairs a longer 115 mm barrel and 17-round magazine with the line's signature low bore axis and trapezoidal sights, aimed at duty, home-defense and competitive shooting use.

The L9-A1 is the long-slide, full-size variant of the Steyr A1 series, sitting above the compact C9-A1 and mid-size M9-A1. It retains Steyr's characteristic low bore axis and drift-adjustable trapezoidal sights.
Background
Steyr's polymer pistol line traces back to Wilhelm Bubits' Steyr M of the late 1990s, whose radically low bore axis and wedge-shaped trapezoidal sights set it apart from rival striker-fired designs. The L9-A1 extended that lineage in 2013 as the full-size, long-barreled flagship of the A1 generation.
