Notes
The MF designation stands for 'Modular Frame', allowing users to adjust the grip to fit different hand sizes. The triangular sight system is unique to Steyr and requires some adaptation but provides fast target acquisition once mastered. The extremely low bore axis is achieved through the pistol's internal design and contributes to flat shooting characteristics.
Background
The original Steyr M series was designed by Wilhelm Bubits, who also designed the Caracal pistol for the UAE. The Steyr M's extremely low bore axis and unique trapezoidal sight system were ahead of their time in the late 1990s, but marketing and distribution challenges kept it from achieving the commercial success its design innovations deserved.
