T93 Sniper Rifle
205th Armory · Sniper Rifle · In Production · 2007
Also known as: Type 93, T93K1
Overview
The T93 is a 7.62x51mm NATO bolt-action sniper rifle designed and manufactured in Taiwan by the 205th Armory, with technical assistance from domestic and foreign firms. First publicly revealed at the 2007 Taipei Aerospace and Defense Technology Exhibition (TADTE), the T93 is closely patterned after the American M24 Sniper Weapon System, featuring a similar bolt action with internal 5-round magazine and a free-floated barrel for its entire length. The rifle uses an H-S Precision PST-25 style adjustable-length stock that was redesigned using ergonomic measurements of Taiwanese soldiers. One notable departure from the M24 design is the absence of the front sight base, as the T93 is intended to be used exclusively with optical sights. During acceptance trials, the T93 achieved a best 3-round group of 0.3 MOA at 800 meters and passed endurance tests of 6,000 rounds without failure.

Notes
The T93 was developed to provide Taiwan's military with a domestically produced precision sniper system, reducing reliance on imported platforms. The rifle's M24-derived design was chosen for its proven track record in military service worldwide. The improved T93K1 variant replaces the 5-round internal magazine with a 10-round detachable box magazine for faster reloading. Taiwan's defense industry operates under significant geopolitical constraints, making indigenous weapons development a strategic priority. The 205th Armory is one of several military production facilities under the Republic of China's Armaments Bureau.
Background
The T93's remarkable 0.3 MOA accuracy at 800 meters during trials demonstrated that Taiwan's defense industry could produce precision weapons competitive with established Western designs. The rifle's ergonomics were specifically tailored to Taiwanese soldiers, a detail often overlooked when adopting foreign designs.
