Tanfoglio Witness P

Fratelli Tanfoglio S.N.C. · Pistol · In Production · 1997

Also known as: EAA Witness Polymer P, Tanfoglio Force 99, Witness P

Overview

The Tanfoglio Witness P is a polymer-framed, short-recoil semi-automatic pistol derived from the Czech CZ-75 design. Built by Fratelli Tanfoglio in Gardone Val Trompia, Italy, it is the polymer-frame member of the Witness family (known internally as the Force/Force 99) and is imported into the United States by European American Armory as the Witness Polymer P. It uses a Browning-style linkless locked-breech action, a double-action/single-action trigger, and an ambidextrous frame-mounted manual safety with an internal firing-pin block. The reduced weight of the polymer frame makes it a lighter alternative to the steel-framed Witness while retaining the platform's hammer-fired ergonomics.

Background

The Witness family traces its lineage to the CZ-75, which Tanfoglio reverse-engineered and refined into its own TZ-75/T95 line before adding a polymer-frame variant marketed worldwide as the Witness P.
