Taurus Judge Public Defender

Taurus Holdings, Inc. · Pistol · In Production · 2009

Also known as: Judge Public Defender, Public Defender

Overview

The Taurus Judge Public Defender is the compact, concealed-carry-oriented member of the Taurus Judge family, a five-shot double-action revolver that fires both .45 Colt cartridges and 2.5-inch .410 shotshells. It shrinks the standard Judge onto a smaller aluminum-alloy frame with a roughly 2-inch barrel, a red fiber-optic front sight, and a soft 'Ribber' rubber grip, making it a popular short-range defensive handgun. The 2.5-inch chamber accepts birdshot, buckshot, slugs, or conventional .45 Colt loads.

Background

The Judge line reportedly got its name because Florida judges began buying the original full-size model to keep in their courtrooms - and the compact Public Defender was Taurus's answer for carrying that same .45 Colt/.410 versatility in a pocket-sized package.
