TCP stands for Taurus Compact Pistol. The pistol featured a very simple design with minimal safeties beyond the long DAO trigger pull. Extended magazines increased capacity to 7+1. The TCP was eventually replaced by the Spectrum as Taurus's micro .380 offering.
Background
Taurus's semi-automatic pistol development accelerated dramatically after acquiring Beretta's Brazilian manufacturing facility in 1980, and the company has since developed an increasingly independent lineup of original designs alongside their proven Beretta-derived models.
