The PT-911 was designed as a more compact alternative to the full-size PT-92 while maintaining sufficient power for duty use. Unlike the PT-92's Beretta-derived open slide, the PT-911 uses an enclosed slide design similar to SIG Sauer and other modern pistols. The tilting barrel system provides reliable lockup and accuracy.
Background
Taurus's semi-automatic pistol development accelerated dramatically after acquiring Beretta's Brazilian manufacturing facility in 1980, and the company has since developed an increasingly independent lineup of original designs alongside their proven Beretta-derived models.
