Notes

The PT-945 is dimensionally larger than the PT-911 and PT-940 to accommodate the .45 ACP cartridge. The single-stack magazine keeps the grip frame manageable while the heavier slide mass helps control the .45 ACP's recoil impulse.

Background

Taurus's semi-automatic pistol development accelerated dramatically after acquiring Beretta's Brazilian manufacturing facility in 1980, and the company has since developed an increasingly independent lineup of original designs alongside their proven Beretta-derived models.
