Notes

The PT809 was part of Taurus's PT-800 series which also included the PT840 (.40 S&W) and PT845 (.45 ACP). These were striker-fired polymer pistols bridging the gap between the PT-24/7 series and later G-series pistols.

Background

Taurus's semi-automatic pistol development accelerated dramatically after acquiring Beretta's Brazilian manufacturing facility in 1980, and the company has since developed an increasingly independent lineup of original designs alongside their proven Beretta-derived models.
